Use this page to understand changes in provider order and inspect the evidence.
Your requests keep the same shape.
For Core, request a routing explanation with metadata:
What it learns
How ordering stays correct
Method, depth and span learning change the order of eligible connections within the same availability tier. A matching provider is moved behind alternatives; learning keeps the last route. Declared capabilities take precedence, and learning does not extend a deadline or grant another transaction dispatch.- Repeated evidence establishes a limit. Historical depth needs a qualified request age and fresh failure witnesses. Head lag, empty results and zero values do not establish missing history.
- Span evidence is specific. Numeric ranges and explicit block-span failures establish a span limit. Result-volume errors and ambiguous wording do not.
- Success can withdraw a hint. Newer accepted success that contradicts the learned boundary can clear it. Hints also expire.
- Knowledge is scoped. Endpoint, credentials, transport and sharing scope define the evidence boundary. Method refusals are method-specific; historical hints also distinguish the resource being read.
Control and inspect Core learning
These variables accepton or off, default to on, and require a restart.
Invalid values fail startup. Set all three to off to keep v0.6.0 ordering:
learning_decision explanation. On the node,
Lasso.Diagnostics.provider_knowledge(profile, chain_id, provider_id) returns
hints per transport.
Prometheus exposes two node-local counters:
Kinds are
method_refusal, historical_depth and span_limit. Counters reset
on restart. An order change does not prove that a failure was avoided. See the
released configuration reference
and metric contract.
Control Cloud learning on a Custom profile
Cloud restores its learned knowledge after restarts. Since October 29, 2026, quota exhaustion and plan refusals take the affected credential out of rotation until revalidation succeeds, while keeping the last route.- See it. Inspect each provider’s knowledge and source in the profile; see Custom profiles.
- Declare what you know. A declared limit, such as your plan’s log range, outranks a learned one.
- Correct it. Reset a provider’s knowledge, or pause one learned hint for an hour, from the API or dashboard.
Limits
Learning does not qualify every method, parameter or historical selector for you. Test your application’s real requests against your provider plans. Core’s learned ordering does not include Cloud’s credential exclusion for quota or plan refusals.Next
